About Brain Candy, LLC & Runes of Gallidon

Brain Candy, LLC, is the official World Steward for Runes of Gallidon.

Runes of Gallidon launched in an "invitation-only" status in July of 2008, with a public beta launch later that same year. The site emerged from beta status in July of 2009, but the concept for Runes of Gallidon first surfaced in early 2007 when Scott Walker and Tony Graham started kicking around the question, "wouldn't it be cool if there was a site that...?"

Runes of Gallidon was inspired by many things, but a few examples warrant specific mention:

  • The Thieves’ World® fantasy series (for collaborative fantasy fiction)
  • Baen Books® (for proving that free digital content doesn’t mean you can’t make money as an artist)
  • Creative Commons (for giving creators more options in how they distribute their works and manage the rights over those works)

Runes of Gallidon will thrive as long as there are Artisans who care enough to submit new Works and fans who want to experience those Works. In this sense, while Brain Candy, LLC may serve as a guiding force for the world, Runes of Gallidon’s success is in the hands of the creative community.

The Gallidon Rider on Horseback

The Stewards of Gallidon are:

Scott Walker, Monkey in a Suit

Scott has a love/hate relationship with computers going back 25 years, a secret passion for fantasy/sci-fi, and a silly notion about writing a fantasy novel. He has been able to pursue all three with Runes of Gallidon. For more, visit this monkey can type and follow him on twitter at scott_walker.

Tony Graham, Lead Editor

Tony Graham is a man born without time. He simply does not have enough time to read - fantasy, Sci Fi, mystery, adventure and those pesky non-fiction books - not enough time to play games – card games, board games, RPGs, and then came computer games like Marathon, Diablo II, and World of Warcrack – not enough time to go hiking, skydiving, snorkeling – not enough time to write. But he's seriously working on that last bit. His worst job was digging railroad tracks out of East Texas mud. His best job was either creating a snow storm in Santa Barbara, CA for a cable movie or creating Runes of Gallidon. It's a close race, but Gallidon is slowly pulling ahead. You can follow Tony on twitter at tonysrunes.

Andy Underwood, Lead Designer

Andy loves to draw, animate and create. He's been lucky enough to work in animation, on book publications and comics and even dabble a little in video games. He also loves the fantasy genre and is the proud owner of a Celtic leaf-bladed short sword. Currently, he has an avid affinity for being part of Runes of Gallidon, drinking coffee from his Runes of Gallidon mug, and thinking of new ideas for Runes of Gallidon.
